Cultivate Your Own Gourmet Mushrooms
Come and learn how to grow your own delicious gourmet and medicinal varieties of mushrooms.

• the knowledge of growing your own organic mushrooms
• the ability to easily produce mushrooms in a variety of ways
• several different cultures of gourmet or medicinal mushroom spawn
• an understanding of how to clone mushrooms to obtain free spawn
• hardwood logs that you inoculated during the workshop
• a DIY mushroom kit that you can take home and fruit into delicious mushrooms for the dinner table
Learning Outcomes of this Workshop
- You will learn how to grow your own gourmet and medicinal varieties of mushrooms. We will be exploring various types of mushrooms and learning several techniques to produce them from a Wild Mushroom Safety Certification holder.
- You will discover just how easy it can become to keep your family supplied with nutritious and flavorful fresh mushrooms, or even scale up to grow larger quantities to meet the demands for farmers markets or restaurant customers.
- You will leave the workshop with several different cultures of mushroom spawn, inoculated logs, a mushroom kit, and cloned material that you can fruit into bountiful harvests or expand for future production needs.

Join us at one of our in-person organic gardening workshops and experience an immersive, hands-on class designed to empower participants to immediately put in to practice the skills we cover during a few short hours.
You will be able to gain insights and benefit from my experiences that have been collected over a lifetime of gardening, farming, and traveling to attend conferences and an assortment of sustainable agriculture training programs. You will quickly increase your knowledge and skills.
From cultivating gourmet mushrooms, growing food in high tunnels or under cover, beekeeping, winter gardening, foraging wild plants, and more, each workshop will guide you step-by-step and incorporate specific activities that will enable you to achieve amazing results within the fields of knowledge covered.
You will elevate your understanding of plants and organic gardening techniques, and not just learn, but gain the real life experiences that will help you to succeed back at your own garden or property.
Meet your Gardening Mentor Kenny Point
The journey into vegetable gardening began in my childhood and never ended. Exploring nature and sharing my experiences has been a very rewarding path to travel. Organic gardening is an ongoing process with each season bringing a unique set of experiences and delightful surprises.
From my hometown of Washington D.C. to PA and WV, the constant theme has been a profound awareness of God's presence in the simplicity of a vegetable plot, where the forces of nature showcase His grandeur. This connection is a source of endless inspiration and encouragement.
My experiences include a Permaculture Design Certification, attended the Native Seed/SEARCH Seed School, soil science study with Elaine Ingham at the Rodale Farm Institute, a Wild Mushroom Safety Certification, and intensive trainings with the PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), and numerous other organic agriculture programs across the US.
I have conducted agriculture workshops for the WV Dept of Agriculture Veterans & Heroes to Agriculture Program and for the WV Food and Farm Coalition. Received the Calhoun County WV outstanding conservation farm award in 2022, and was a presenter at the 2024 AdAgrA Conference in High Springs, FL and the 2025 conference in High Springs, FL.
Now residing, in the mountains of Central West Virginia, I have the privilege to delve deeper into farming, beekeeping, and foraging for wild medicinal plants and mushrooms. Embracing a simpler life, close to nature, has brought me nearer to God and filled my days with joy.
Through my courses and workshops, I aim to share this passion and offer insights that might save you from common gardening pitfalls. My greatest hope is that you, too, will experience that same sense of awe, inspiration, and connection as you gaze upon your own thriving gardens.
